Boss Babe: Nova Jane Ward

Boss Babe: Nova Jane Ward

Tweak chatted to entrepreneur Nova Jane Ward, CEO and Founder of Fitcover:

How did you get your ‘job’?

I fell into my 'job' of being the Owner of Fitcover, because I had a need that wasn't currently being met in the makeup industry - I needed a product that I could look amazing in and still sweat and be a boss babe in my day-to-day life. It's has been in my blood to be entrepreneurial from the moment I realised that money could buy me whatever I wanted. I was in year one and selling my drawings to my next door neighbours, just so I could save up to buy a ticket to visit England with my best friend. I am willing to try anything - I am not scared of failing as I am always excited to learn from my failure.

How do you make your customers/clients feel confident when many stereotypes and social pressures are still so prevalent these days?
I always let my customers know to be themselves. I am always so raw on social media for only one reason - I want to show people that I am not perfect and even though I run a company, I still stutter my words, make spelling mistakes and cry. No one is perfect.

What drives you to be better every day?
I know this sounds cliche but it's my boys. I really don't remember what drove me prior to them... I never got to look up to my parents and so it's a massive goal of mine to make my boys proud. Time is so precious to me, I won't waste a second.

What would you tell other up and coming women entrepreneurs - a word of advice?
Please just start! Do not wait for it to be the 'perfect time' or place. You will regret seeing someone else come up with the same idea and you never started it.
What does success mean to you?
Success to me means being able to spend time with my family and myself - to be able to have a Company and team that runs well even when I am not there.
